Why “GiftSplaces” Means Marketing

without comments

A lot can be said about the reasons behind this blog. The simple fact is that many “mom and pop” start up businesses these days are using the internet as a sales tool.  This means they can reach a larger audience then before, and promote more niche goods successfully then they might have otherwise been able to.  Marketing is vital as a part of this, because someone who is educated in marketing can help  these businesses reach the people that would find those services and goods useful.

Now you might be wondering how a blog called “GiftSplaces” ended up being used for marketing posts.  Look at how the Internet allows for more people to sell to limited range audiences though.  Each segment of the market that is targeted, be it for promotion of limited use things like pocket edge protector for shirt pockets, or jumbo edge protectors as part of custom packaging solutions and you can easily see how each niche is a “Gift Splace” because the audience is tightly focused, and the web based business is carving out a location, virtually, to reach them.

Of course marketing plays a huge role in making that connection. One cannot have a tightly focused market on draftsmen’s edge protector pocket liners and target just anyone.  Their marketing needs to be designed to reach out to draftsmen and still be open enough for those other student types who might find one useful. The same goes with jumbo edge protectors used as part of custom packaging solutions because not every seller will need jumbo size ones.  If you are shipping small items then you might not need one at all, but if you are sending something large and heavy then a heavy duty one would be better for you. How would you locate the exact thing you need?  Well – Marketing of course can help bridge that gap.

So you can see the connection there between the name of the blog and the topic being addressed.  In order to help small businesses reach the target audience marketing must be good enough to know what the audience needs and will respond to. Not only does the site need to surface on a search and do so on the first page of the results, but it must have that “grab” to get a click on the very limited number of lines that the search engine results allow. Marketing can successfully create this for any webpage, but that is only half the battle. Once the searcher has clicked on the link to visit the site, there is a thirty second window in which to impress upon them that you have what they need. For this Marketing by way of layout, proper navigation, on target information, and general feel of the site is extremely important. If you happen to have both those elements spot on then you must handle the third element – one of customer experience and satisfaction because repeats or referrals come from good memories.
